SAFETY WARNING

A towbar is a safety critical component and in the interest of your own safety and those on the road around you, beware of the towbar that does not carry the SABS mark of approval, and the approval from the motor manufacturer.

Your towbar should also have an identification plate permanently fixed to it which displays the towbar's allowable downward and towing loads, its part number, its manufacturer and its manufacturing batch number for traceability.

You need this identification and the approval to protect you and the load you are towing.

There are many cheap towbars available which carry none of these approvals or identifications. These towbars have never been designed or tested to ensure a fatigue life that will protect you. Their fitment is often suspect in that the correct mounting points may not be used to cut cost or reduce manufacturing complexity.
