The desktop multiapplication stand-alone reader, with 2 smart card slots

Gemplus GCR700 combines flexibility and security. With its two integrated smart-card readers, it can simultaneously read and authenticate two different cards. The health professional inserts his card to identify himself and access the application.

When the patient card has been inserted, the professional can read the medical information he needs. He can also check insurance coverage and record his prescription or the medical act in the patient card. Payment can be registered, with data sent to the insurance company, or statistics issued.

The GCR700: All-in-one

This superior card reader may be used either in a stand-alone mode, or connected to a PC. With its extended memory (up to 1 megabyte), its two smart-card interfaces and security modules, the GCR700 can manage up to four different applications. These applications are stored separately in secure areas. There is no risk of interaction between different applications. What is more, with its two serial line/ports you can connect peripheral add-ons such as a printer and/or a modem. The GCR700 is the ideal, secure device for applications including healthcare, electronic payment, identity, loyalty, and many others.

Dual Card Slots

With two smart-card interfaces, the GCR700 can authenticate two cards at a time. For instance, in a healthcare environment, the slot on the side might hold the doctor's card. This card is fully inserted in a protected position. The card slot located on the top might then be used for the patient card. With the two cards inserted, the GCR700 would identify the holder and grant access to the appropriate information.
