Your CheckMate buddy is an innovative 40-second touch-screen, self check-in system specifically designed to allow you to check yourself in for domestic flights, thereby reducing queues at check-in counters.
The service is available to passengers with confirmed flight reservations who are travelling without checked-in luggage (hand luggage only) on the services of South African Airways, South African Airways Express Airways and South African Airlink from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban Airports.
This check-in system takes you through a 40 second touch-screen question and response procedure, the swiping of a credit card or your Voyager membership card for identification (not billing) purposes, and then automatically issues the boarding card. To save you even more time, you can also use CheckMate for the simultaneous check-in for both the outbound and inbound flights when travelling on the same day. A useful feature of the system is the seating plan. CheckMate displays a seat map of the particular type of aircraft used on a specific flight, and allow you to choose your seat from any of the available seats on that flight.
As Voyager members you have the right to expect
world class service from South African Airways and CheckMate is stepping in to meet this
expectation by saving you valuable time. The airline also benefits by having less
congestion at the check-in counters which will help to improve punctual departures.
Procedure:
Passengers travelling on the Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban
routes can call South African Airways' 24-hour reservations telephone line in Johannesburg
on (011) 978-1111, to make credit card bookings and request electronic ticketing.
Once your electronic booking is confirmed and paid for, you can use CheckMate as follows:
· Identify yourself by swiping any credit card or your Voyager membership card.
· Indicate your gender by touching the relevant picture on the screen.
· Touch your destination on the screen.
· Touch your flight number or departure time on the screen.
· Select the "detailed seating plan" option to choose your seat.
· The CheckMate terminal will now print your boarding pass.
Other facilities:
CheckMate also caters for the simultaneous check-in of groups of up to eight passengers
with a single card swipe.
· Passengers can also obtain their return flight boarding pass if they return on the same
day.
· Passengers who hold flight tickets can also use the CheckMate terminal. They simply
tear out their flight coupon from the ticket and insert it into the boarding pass.
