PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The MECER GOLD server platform is the first purpose built
server from MECER designed to take full advantage of Intel's
powerful new Pentium II processor and Intel 440LX chipset,
featuring a wealth of I/O and manageability enhancements.
Mecer's latest mid-range server delivers an optimum balance
of processing power, I/O performance, reliability and
manageability.
PERFORMANCE
For maximum performance, the system is fully validated
for the 266MHz, 300MHz and 333MHz Pentium II processor with
512KB cache per processor and can be configured with one or
two CPUs. The baseboard incorporates the latest PCI I/O
technology, including built-in RAID support using on-board
Ultra SCSI, i960 processor and SVGA graphics.
SCALABILITY
The MECER GOLDs extensive scalability means enterprises
can readily expand the system as business requirements grow.
The platform offers nine expansion slots and a choice of up
to 512MB of ECC protected SDRAM standard DIMM memory. Its
five standard drive bays can be expanded to 10 hot swop RAID
arrays, and includes an IDE CD-ROM drive and 1.44MB floppy
drive. Optional redundant cooling, power and hard drives
allow flexibility in designing the appropriate level of
fault tolerance.
RELIABILITY
The Pentium II processor incorporates the latest MMX
technology and the ability to address Error Correcting
Code memory, an indispensable reliability feature for
critical business applications. Built-in reliability
features include a fully redundant chassis with hot-swopable
power supplies, disks and fans, plus temperature monitoring
and predictive failure detection.
MANAGEMENT AND SECURITY
Manageability features include LANDesk Server
Manager software and both in-band and remote monitoring
and capability, allowing LAN managers to reduce support
costs and increase system uptime. An optional server-monitoring
module adds emergency management capabilities over telephone
lines and is accessible even if the server is powered down.
