Health and Safety Policy

At Amecon we place a high value on the wellbeing of our employees and safety is paramount to our operation. We view the proper management of occupational health, safety and staff welfare equally with all other operational considerations. We aim to minimise the risk of injury to our staff by adopting a systematic and planned approached to the management of occupational health and safety.

A risk assessment is performed irrespective if the nature if the project and the risk assessment shall form part of the Occupational Health and Safety Plan to be applied on the site and shall include at least:

• The identification of the risks and hazards to which persons may be exposed to;
• The analysis and evaluation of the risks and hazards identified;
• Documented plan of a safe work procedures to mitigate, reduce or control the risks and hazards that have been identified;
• Monitoring plan and
• Review plan

On all larger projects we appoint a reputable Health and Safety Inspector for the duration of the project. Such company will act independantly to Amecon.

Amecon Social Responsibility

Amecon acknowledges its responsibility and commitment to the wider community by being actively involved in social programmes.

"KHAYELITSHA PROJECT FOR KIDS" a boys shelter for between 40 to 50 kids was previously situated in Hillbrow. After 2 of the boys were murdered the shelter was relocated to Florida in the west Rand. The house was made available to the kids by a pastor from NKOSI’S Haven. Being a NGO the shelter is dependent on donations and does not have additional resources to allocate for maintenance on the property.

The most recent sponsorship was when Amecon and Plascon Barloworld undertook to sponsor the refurbishment of the shelter and plans to build additional storage facilities on the property in the future.
