Year 2000 Compliance
The table which follows describes the pass levels and
what tests the PC must pass to achieve them.
LEVEL |
REQUIREMENT |
1 |
Must pass all three leap year tests up to
2099.
|
2 |
Must be capable of retaining a date past
and including the year 2000 once set and then after a power down/up cycle.
|
3a |
Must rollover when power is applied. This
level is seen in PC's where the rollover appears to be correct whilst powered up but when
the power is cycled (switched of and then on again) the date is no longer correct.
|
3b |
Must rollover to 2000 if the transition
occurred whilst powered off, i.e. the correction is applied only during the boot sequence.
|
4 |
Must rollover both when powered up and also
react correctly to the transition to 2000 whilst powered down.
|
5 |
CMOS must be updated immediately at the
time of the rollover, i.e. there must be no latency problem. |
